Embedded in the alimentary canal (the pathway by which food enters the body) is the enteric nervous system that governs (handles digestion) the function of the gastrointestinal system and has a direct connection to our brain.
The food we eat can either have a positive or negative effect on the neurotransmitters in this mass of neural tissue therefore, having a direct impact on our mental state (mood).
A poor diet can negatively affect gut microbiome balance by feeding bad bacteria and fugus which can in turn imbalance neurotransmitters that regulate mood. Psychiatrists have had success treating depression with high doses of probiotics.
All that to say I agree with Anthony’s sentiment that the path to health is healing the gut. less

Powerful! I was not aware of the alimentation canal and it's direct connection to the brain. I learn something new of Life Management Tribe everyday! Thank you!

It's like a slow motion death sentence. I've also experienced how simply consuming high energy (live) foods allows the body to repair the gut. I'm also with a woman who has suffered debilitating menstrual pains for most of her adult life and I've seen her transition to having no pain at all simply by choosing to eat 100% raw.
