Honoring Hellon

My mother, Hellon was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1993. I have been her caregiver for most of my adult life- with the exception of 6 years, during which she lived with my brother. Up until 2016 she was very independent. In April 2016 her MS stopped responding to  medication and her health began to decline rapidly. My brother needed surgery in 2016 so she moved with me and my children. My daughter  and I have been responsible for her care since.

She went from being able to assist with her care to becoming totally dependent on us and confined to bed. Her legs muscles  atrophied and  locked at the knees. She had  frequent spasms in her legs and back. My daughter and I alternated responsibilities as caregivers. 

In January of 2018, she suffered a stroke and lost much of her speech.  June 2018 began a succession of numerous admissions to the hospital; resulting in unpaid bills and additional medical expenses. (Ex: she needed an ambulance to and from the hospital each time she is admitted)

I was forced to take a leave in November due to her increased dependency. On December 16, 2018, her issues were compounded by an additional stroke coupled with a  seizure.

Then she had a second tonic seizure and was declared epileptic and placed on anti seizure medication in February 2019. The changes were depressing and emotional for us all.

This originally started as a fund for her medical expenses, but on July 20th she was released to home hospice as a result of dysphagia related to Advanced Multiple Sclerosis. On August 19th, 2019- just two days before my birthday- she passed away. We need help with the following:

*Funeral Expenses
*Past  treatment / medical bills
*Financial assistance for loved ones who are traveling from out of town
*To manage  household expenses as we adjust over the next few months
